Session run-sheets

Four session shapes, one for every class.

Adapt these for a 15 to 30 minute exchange on Thursday 19th November 2026. Same skeleton as the teacher guide - welcome, main activity, questions, goodbye - tuned for your pupils' age.

Ages 5-7

Early years and KS1

Suggested shape

  1. 01Welcome song or wave hello, with actions
  2. 02Show-and-tell: one favourite toy or object each
  3. 03Simple questions with picture cue cards
  4. 04Goodbye song or wave

Prompts to try

  • What is your favourite animal?
  • What is the weather like where you are today?
  • What is your favourite colour?

Shared activity idea

Show-and-tell - each child (or a few chosen pupils) holds up one favourite toy or object from home.

Ages 7-11

Primary / KS2

Suggested shape

  1. 01Welcome and greeting in each other's language
  2. 02“Here's us” - a map, our school, three facts
  3. 03Shared activity (see below)
  4. 04Questions both ways
  5. 05Goodbye

Prompts to try

  • What is a typical school day like for you?
  • What games do you play at breaktime?
  • What is your favourite subject, and why?

Shared activity idea

Compare school-day timetables side by side, or play a 'guess the object' show-and-tell.

Ages 11-14

Lower secondary / KS3

Suggested shape

  1. 01Welcome and introductions
  2. 02A short presentation from each side - school, local area, one thing pupils are proud of
  3. 03Pupil-led discussion on a shared theme
  4. 04Questions both ways
  5. 05Goodbye

Prompts to try

  • What is something people often misunderstand about your country?
  • What is a typical week like for a pupil your age?
  • What are you hoping for in the future?

Shared activity idea

A short, prepared discussion or friendly debate on a theme both classes agree in advance.

Ages 14-18

Upper secondary / KS4-5

Suggested shape

  1. 01Welcome
  2. 02Pupil-led introductions and context-setting
  3. 03Extended discussion or debate on an agreed theme
  4. 04Open questions both ways
  5. 05Goodbye

Prompts to try

  • What issue matters most to your generation where you live?
  • How does school shape your plans after you leave?
  • What would you want the world to know about your country?

Shared activity idea

A structured discussion or debate, prepared and chaired by pupils on both sides.
